Mission
Menander Redivivus seeks to highlight the reception of Menander in contemporary theatre. By collecting, analysing, and openly sharing evidence from 20th- and 21st-century productions, the project establishes the first digital archive dedicated exclusively to the modern presence of Menander. This platform preserves and showcases an important part of theatrical history, while serving as a valuable educational tool for universities, drama schools, theatre practitioners, and the general public.
Vision
The vision of the project is to become an international reference point for the study of New Comedy and the modern reception of Menander, fostering dialogue among scholars, students, theatre practitioners, and audiences. Ultimately, it aims to inspire renewed appreciation for Menander’s influence and to encourage innovative ways of engaging with fragmentary plays on today’s stage.
