Our Team (CVs)

Antonis K. Petrides (BA Thessaloniki, 1999; MPhil and PhD Trinity College, Cambridge, 2000 and 2005, respectively) was born in Nicosia, Cyprus, in 1975, where his family, hailing from the district of Kyrenia, was displaced by the invading Turkish army in 1974. He is currently an Associate Professor of Classics at the Open University of Cyprus, where he has been teaching since 2007. He has held fellowships at the Universities of Cambridge, Princeton, and Harvard. His research focuses primarily on ancient Greek theatre and its modern reception. He is also interested in the Modern Greek literature of Cyprus and the didactics of ancient Greek literature in secondary education. Antonis K. Petrides

Dr. Kyriaki A. Ioannidou is a classical philologist specializing in Greek New Comedy, Papyrology (BA Athens, MSt Oxford, PhD UCL) and Theatre Studies, focusing on Acting and Directing (MA Open University of Cyprus). She is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Open University of Cyprus, coordinating the project Menander Redivivus: New Comedy on the Modern Stage. Previously, she held fellowships at the Cambridge Center of Greek Studies (University of Cambridge, 2024-2025) and at the Center for Hellenic Studies (Harvard University, 2022-2023).

She has published on Menander and the reception of ancient drama in peer-reviewed journals (e.g., Logeion, ZPE, BASP), conference proceedings, and edited volumes. Her forthcoming monograph, will be published as volume 24.4 of the Fragmenta Comica series (KomFrag Project): Menander: Achaioi-Thais (fr. 89-169). Dr. Ioannidou has experience in teaching ancient Greek and Latin Languages and Literature at University College London (2012-2016), the University of Cyprus (2019-2020), and currently at the Open University of Cyprus (since 2023).

Beyond academia, she has served as a Cultural Officer at the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture (2017-2025) and as the President of the National Committee of Monuments of the Republic of Cyprus (2020-2024). Additionally, she has experience as a director and an academic advisor (e.g., UCL Greek Plays), and as an International and Academic Relations Manager at Homo Ludens – Urban Exploration Dramaturgy (2022-).
